MEET SAMANTHA
Hi, I'm Samantha! I have a background in fashion design, and I make lifestyle YouTube videos on intentional living, personal growth, mental health, and cooking. I started my channel as a means to help others feel supported and validated in their own journey. Now, I am taking the next step by helping people in a more direct and personal way!
I have always had a knack for organizing. As a child I enjoyed keeping my room neat and tidy. I would rearrange my furniture and belongings so they were functional and pleasing to the eye. Organization and design was innate in me. This carried on to adulthood. I considered myself a very organized person with a clutter-free home. Then in 2015 I discovered minimalism and read Marie Kondo's The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. This changed my perspective on clutter and organization. I soon realized that, sure, my home looked neat but hidden behind closet doors; cabinets; and desk drawers was clutter neatly packed away, clutter taking up precious real estate on my tables and bookshelves. I immediately started using the KonMari Method, Marie Kondo's personal decluttering system. Decluttering brought me a sense of relief that I didn't even realize I needed!
Now I don't practice the Konmari Method completely, but I have since figured out an organizing system that works best for me. This might look different for you and that's okay! Organization is flexible and dependent on one's own needs and lifestyle. My aim isn't to push minimalism onto someone else's life, but to help them boost their productivity level while bringing some peace into their space. With my organizational skills; my design experience; and my passion for helping people, I believe we can achieve just that. Read my philosophy here.
WHY I AM DOING THIS
As I continued through my path into minimalism I realized more and more that it was much greater than simply getting rid of "stuff" but also getting rid of mental burdens and toxic situations. I began to shed what I could of what was holding me back and, instead, pushed to pursue my truest of passions from starting a home bakery business to plant-based cooking to self-care and now, professional organizing.
After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) and working in the fashion industry whilst paying off student loans, I decided that working as a fashion designer isn't what I want, that it doesn't bring me the joy that I thought it would back when I was 18 years old. (I mean, I was 18 when I first started my major! I was an infant!) I've come to terms with leaving that behind in the pursuit of what I truly want and that is to share what I've learned through personal growth, to help others live a more organized life, and to contribute to creating a more loving and sustainable world. Oh, and baking as much as humanely possible because life is too short to live without simple pleasures.
Thanks for stopping by, and don't hesitate to say "Hello!" ❤︎
